That is why we have redesigned the building quote experience at Flint Hills Barns & Buildings. Instead of expecting every customer to complete the same detailed questionnaire, we now provide two clear ways to begin.
Why We Changed the Quote Process
When we created our original building quote form, we tried to make it as complete as possible.
It asked about dimensions, roof styles, doors, windows, site conditions, installation preferences, engineering requirements, and many other details that can affect a building quote.
That information is valuable—but we realized it could also create a wall between an interested customer and the help they were looking for.
Many people begin a building project without knowing all the technical details. They may not know the correct building size, the best roof style, which supplier serves their area, or whether a ready-made product or custom building would be the better value.
That should not prevent someone from asking for help.
The purpose of a quote form should not be to make the customer solve the entire project alone. It should give us enough information to begin a useful conversation.
Option One: Help Me Find the Right Option
This path is designed for customers who know what they need to accomplish but are not sure what product or building will accomplish it.
You do not need dimensions, technical specifications, or a manufacturer in mind.
Just tell us what you are trying to do.
For example:
- “I need an affordable shelter for two tractors and a skid steer.”
- “We have three horses and need a run-in shelter with somewhere to store hay.”
- “I need a workshop, but I am not sure how large it should be.”
- “We just bought acreage and need help planning a barn, fencing, gates, and livestock areas.”
- “I need covered storage, but I do not know whether a carport, fabric shelter, or enclosed building makes the most sense.”
You provide a brief description of the project, the project ZIP code, and the best way to contact you.
Then Bobby reviews the request and looks for practical options.
That may include:
- A ready-made product already available through our store
- A fabric shelter or container-mounted shelter
- A carport, garage, or equipment cover
- A custom metal building
- A supplier configurator
- A combination of products for a more complete farm or ranch project
Instead of asking you to sort through a large catalog and guess, we help narrow the field.
Option Two: I Mostly Know What I Want
Some customers already have a strong idea of what they need.
You may know your approximate dimensions, building type, intended use, major openings, or important features. The structured quote path gives you a place to share those details without requiring you to make every technical decision first.
You can tell us what you already know, such as:
- Approximate width, length, and height
- The primary use of the building
- Whether it will be open, partially enclosed, or fully enclosed
- Vehicles, equipment, livestock, or storage that must fit inside
- Garage doors, walk doors, windows, lean-tos, or other important features
- Whether you would like installation included
- Your approximate project timeline
And when you are unsure, you can simply choose Help me decide.
The form does not need to produce a final engineered building specification. It gives us a well-organized starting point so we can follow up, ask the right questions, and complete the remaining details together.

A building project usually includes questions that are difficult to answer through a form alone.
Will the building fit the equipment you plan to store five years from now?
Would an open shelter save money, or would full enclosure provide better long-term value?
Would a standard product meet the need, or does the site call for a custom configuration?
Are there delivery, installation, wind-load, snow-load, permit, or foundation considerations in your area?
Those questions are easier to work through in a real conversation.
By simplifying both quote paths, we have created more room for that conversation. We can ask follow-up questions, explain the available choices, and help you understand why one direction may make more sense than another.
That is where trust is built—and it is one of the most important parts of the way we want to do business.
Every Project Is a Different Puzzle
This new quote process also reflects what Flint Hills Barns & Buildings is becoming.
We are not interested in simply placing hundreds of products on a website and leaving customers to figure everything out themselves.
We want to understand the problem.
A customer may believe they need a custom barn, but a well-chosen ready-made shelter may solve the problem for less money.
Another customer may begin by looking for a small equipment cover, only to realize that a larger enclosed building would support their workshop, storage, and future plans.
A farm or ranch customer may need more than a building. The complete solution could eventually include fencing, gates, stalls, panels, feeders, storage, or shipping containers.
Each request gives us a set of pieces. Our job is to help put those pieces together into a solution that makes sense for the customer, the property, and the budget.
There Is No Wrong Way to Start
You do not need to know every answer before contacting us.
You do not need to understand every building option.
You do not need to choose a manufacturer.
